Committee
David Carpenter: Chairman
I have been a ski instructor since 1997 and achieved my snow licence through BASI in 2003. I have been coaching the race club for several years and work away with school groups on snow at least 1 week a year as a guide and instructor. My full time job as a Driving Instructor means I get to teach Skiing and Driving to many of my pupils.
Dan McKrill - Vice Chairman
I have been a ski instructor for the past 6 years and learnt to ski at Snowtrax before I went on my first skiing holiday with my school at the tender age of 14, some 17 years ago. I also race on the SRSA race circuit with the people we teach to race. I, like David get the chance to teach/guide on snow a couple of times a year, which is great fun. I’m also a little bit mad and have been known to ski off the odd cliff when away on snow, it’s all good fun though….
Tony Thomas - Treasurer
Never say that you work for a Bank or are an auditor!! I became involved with Snowtrax approximately 10 years ago, when my son, at the age of 6 years, wanted to join me on a skiing holiday. I said he could come if he learned to ski and, following initial lessons, he soon progressed to the SRSA race circuit and has just started an instructor course.
Jennifer Carpenter (Website Co-ordinator)
Well, I have only actually been skiing for 6 years. I had never put ski’s on my feet until I met David, then after seeing him hit the dendex at Southampton it took a long time to join Team Snowtrax. I have done two attempts in the race circuit but have been a member of Team Snowtrax for 4 years. I have now agreed to maintain the Website so any ideas please come and find me and I will endeavour to keep the website up to date, so any news or photos please forward them to me at jennifercarpenter43@hotmail.co.uk
Jackie Cluett - Fundraiser
I have been coming to Snowtrax for the last 18 years with my Grandson Lewis where he first joined Skifreaks (original race club) and then when it went over to Team Snowtrax, we soon realised that we needed to raise the profile and income for the team so I opted to become the Fundraiser. I regularly do raffles and promote any other fundraising within the club. I also take the tickets every session to ensure that we can claim our part reimbursement from Snowtrax.
Janet McKrill - Child Welfare Officer
I have been a race coach at Snowtrax for the past 11 years and learnt to ski there when I was only 9, 20 years ago!!!! I am a schools nurse hence the reason for me being the child welfare officer. I race on the SRSA circuit and also try to get away on snow, as much as work and money will allow, with my husband Dan (vice chairman). Someone has to look after him when he’s away!
Helen Schmidt - Secretary
I have been treasurer for the southern region for the last 6 years and also for Team Snowtrax in previous years. I have recently taken over as Secretary for Team Snowtrax and I love it! I love chatting to everyone whenever possible. I am also one of the coaches and have been with the club for 10 years!
Lois Shering (parent committee member)
I have been involved in Team Snowtrax for 3 years when Nicole joined the race club after learning to ski firstly in the penguins then in the bears group. I enjoy my ski holidays but will leave the racing to the experts. You will find me stood by the side of the slope nearly every Wednesday and Saturday, whatever the weather! (you could say Nicole is a very keen Team Snowtrax member).
Mike Smith (parent committee member)
I started skiing along with my daughter in 2008 but after a couple of years of watching her race from the sidelines, myself and a few other parents took the plunge in early 2010 and joined in with race training and the race season and promptly adopted the title "The Hip Replacements". I also started skiing on the Thursday evening parents night in 2008 and still occasionally come along.
I am currently working towards my Snowsport England level 1 instructor award at Snowtrax.
